🔔 Lengthy but read-worthy post ahead 🔔
On my Instagram influencer page, Katies AZ Kitchen, I post an array of different things. Pictures of my latest shopping finds, ASMR restocking videos, etc. However, I also post a lot in regards to mental health & being honest about the work I’ve done in therapy to heal the trauma of my past, the feelings about getting diagnosed with cancer in my 20’s, stress with work, etc.
But tonight I posted something that, although lengthy, I thought may be worth sharing on here as well. It’s the new year, and people are working on their resolutions or setting their intentions. I’ve been working on mine for the past 365 days & here’s a glimpse...
——
Last year in therapy, I focused on two main topics. Boundaries and accountability. I applied these in every aspect of my life. So much so, that my team and I at the office discuss “accountability” at least 3 days a week. We always say, “We hold each other accountable for what is said & done, and we expect the same in return.”
Let this serve as my reminder to anyone who CHOOSES to be a part of my life for any reason, in any capacity. I WILL HOLD YOU ACCOUNTABLE for the words you speak, how you treat people, the things you post online, the comments you leave, your work ethic (or lack thereof), EVERYTHING. And I 100% expect the same in return. The days of me being quiet to “keep the peace” are done. The days of me “letting things slide” are done. The years I’ve spent ashamed of who I was are DONE.
I know I’m a passionate person, I know I wear my emotions on my sleeve, and I know I ride for my circle. Their pain is my pain. I spent nearly 30 years apologizing for who I was. Because I was made to feel like I was “too much”. I did too much, talked too much, spent too much time with the “wrong” people. Poured too much time into irrelevant things, and the list goes on. But, no, this is me and I make no apologies for the road I’ve taken to get here.
I can’t change your thoughts, I can’t even change the way you operate, but best believe, I will ask questions, I will hold anyone & everyone accountable for their words, beliefs, actions (or again, lack thereof). 🫶🤍
