Update on the Point Fire east of Garberville.
A structure fire spread to the vegetation about a mile east of Garberville at Quarry Road near Alderpoint Road about 6 p.m. and has spread to approximately 7 acres. Evacuations of Lower Sawmill Road have been requested.
We are live in Eureka where a large number of emergency personnel are currently on the scene of an incident near the Comfort Inn off Broadway, where a man, now in a parked vehicle reportedly is threatening to stab himself. At times during the standoff officers reported over their radio that the man was seen stabbing his vehicle dashboard and smashing his car window. The situation began around 7:20 a.m. this Sunday morning, and law enforcement and medical personnel are actively managing the scene.
