When I read what John L Jackson had written about me in the Oxford University commissioned book,
"A House On Fire," after only interviewing, Joe Jefferson, Bobby Eli, and Wheldon McDougall, I knew I had to speak for myself and write my own book. Who could better speak for you than yourself? Hmm?
You see, I know my former music writing partner.

When it came to the songs Jefferson Hawes & Simmons wrote, no one touched the piano once I walked into the room.
Every word and every description of how songs were created by my team is true. I wrote all of the music. And the 3 of us wrote the lyrics.
