“This year New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art became the first institution to delve into the life and work of Juan Pareja. As they patched together his story, the curators realised they also needed to shed light on another long-overlooked history – the ubiquity of slave labour when it came to creating the great paintings, sculptures, pottery and ceramics of Spain’s golden age.”

Picture yourself studying in Spain 🇪🇸 😍

Do you have a valid passport just waiting to be put to good use? It's not too late to study abroad with Temple University in Oviedo, Spain this spring!

Long-time Temple Professor Jaime Duran started this program twenty years ago, and it has provided hundreds of students with a memorable, transformative experience. Removed from the heavy tourism of some other Spanish towns, Oviedo, the capital of Asturias, is rich in Spanish history and culture and offers easy access to nearby cities, the mountains and the coast. This off-the-beaten- path location offers a truly immersive experience in northern Spanish culture.

Don't miss your chance to...
• improve your language skills • learn about the region's traditions, history and cuisine • study at a world-class institution
• make life-long friends
• and more!
Want to know what students say about the program? Read the testimonies of Kerina, Zoe and Jamey 😀

*Deadline: October 1st*

“Besides altering the quality of our memories, switching between languages can influence people’s financial decision-making and their appraisal of moral dilemmas. By speaking a second language, we can even become more rational, more open-minded and better equipped to deal with uncertainty. This phenomenon is known as the “foreign language effect” and the benefits may be an inspiration for anyone who would like to enrich their mind with the words of another tongue.”

Temple in Spain Semester 🇪🇸

David’s testimony:
“With my time in Oviedo this summer, I was immersed into a culture that took my breath away and taught me so much in only 1 month. I experienced so much stuff with Jaime, Norma, and our group, and forged so many friendships and memories alongside them. This program is such a unique experience and has such a home-y and inviting atmosphere with the people you go with, the family you stay with, and the Professors that teach you. I was able to walk into Oviedo knowing very little about speaking Spanish and left with an in-depth comprehension of not only the language, but culture as a whole. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to be challenged academically, be fully immersed into a culture, and forge connections that hold a special place in their heart.”
