As we settle into 2025 under a new presidential administration, print service providers are facing a rapidly evolving economic and regulatory landscape. In the latest episode of The Impressions Xchange podcast, we reconnect with five subject matter experts from PRINTING United Alliance to explore what these changes mean for the printing industry.

Building on our January article, “The Economic, Legislative, and Regulatory Outlook for 2025,” this discussion dives into the key updates print businesses need to understand right now. Gary Jones and Sara Osorio from the Environmental, Health, and Safety team break down how recent executive orders from President Donald Trump could impact compliance efforts. Andy Paparozzi, the Alliance’s chief economist, offers perspective on where the economy is heading and what it means for growth in the print sector. Adriane Harrison and Stephanie Buka weigh in on workforce issues, regulatory advocacy, and how to stay informed as both federal and state-level regulations shift.

If you’re looking for practical, timely insights to guide your business through the year ahead, this is a conversation you won’t want to miss.

03/14/2025

Now that the 2024 election dust has settled, it looks like OSHA could be heading for some big shifts under the new Trump administration. With a likely push toward less federal oversight and more flexibility for businesses, the way workplace safety is handled could change — but that doesn’t mean you can relax just yet.

👀 What This Means:
➡️ Fewer inspections and lighter penalties — but more pressure on businesses to self-regulate.
➡️ Trump nominated a pro-labor Republican to lead the Department of Labor — could this mean a different approach this time around?
➡️ Unions and labor groups won’t stay quiet if they feel worker safety is at risk.

💡 For Printing Operations:
✅ Stay on top of changing regulations — things are going to move fast.
✅ Keep your safety programs strong, even if the rules loosen up.
✅ Be ready for inspections — they’re not disappearing anytime soon.

The bottom line: Just because OSHA might ease up doesn’t mean you should. A strong safety culture will protect your team and your business.

“Confidence and curiosity are key — especially when you're breaking barriers.”

It’s Women’s History Month. Seems fitting to sit down with someone who knows a thing or two about resilience.

Audrey Jamieson, President of Marketing Kitchen, didn’t exactly take the obvious path. From waitressing and ad sales to running a successful print and direct mail company, Audrey’s story is about the quiet grit it takes to make things happen — especially in a male-dominated industry.

In this episode of Her Imprint, Audrey talks about:
➖ The messy, non-linear path into printing
➖ Why leading a team of women feels different
➖ The moments that almost broke her (and how she got through)
➖ The advice she’d give her younger self

Listen if you’ve ever wondered how to hold your ground — or if you’re figuring it out as you go.

02/19/2025

The Washington State Department of Ecology is back at it, trying once more to ban printing inks with trace amounts of inadvertent polychlorinated biphenyls (iPCBs). Never mind that the EPA already rejected a similar petition in 2024. Never mind that there's little evidence these inks pose a real threat to human health or the environment. The push continues.

PRINTING United Alliance is sounding the alarm, warning that this move could send shockwaves through the printing industry. The problem? Many essential pigments contain chlorine, and without them, there are few real alternatives.
