A little something I wrote Saturday…It’s not perfect for I’m a bit rusty, haven’t written much for a while…I really hope you enjoy…it’s pretty deep, sad and beautiful all at once…It’s an extended 3 page poem that tells a story of friendship, hope, and loving someone with addiction…
All feedback good or bad is welcome I’ll post the words here incase the words are too hard to read for some…
Re and Taylor met back in elementary school,
Two quiet kids, just trying to seem cool.
They grew up together, always hung with the same crew,
All bonded together, All Stuck like glue,
As Catholic School Kids and Teenagers often do,
Getting into trouble with kegs in the woods.
Let’s not forget,
always up to no good, at PLK, too.
When High School ended,
Life took them apart, as they explored different paths, like people often do,
She chased the sun; He followed the rain,
Each experiencing their own, joy and pain.
He chased the Dragon and She self medicated
Years drifted by, the memories grew .
A unspoken bond, That only the stars knew.
Shortly they’ll back, Each holding the other in joy and pain,
A friendship they both desperately needed, With more to follow, all the same,
Two hearts align, a bond they never knew.
For some connections, time cannot sever,
For Re and Taylor—apart, but not forever.
And now, in their late 30s, by a twist of fate,
He found her on Snapchat,
contacting her in the digital haze.
They tried to keep it straight,
Friends with benefits, no feelings to weigh,
But feelings snuck in, in their own quiet way.
Unaware it would actually be,
Two old friends now meeting, at love’s fragile gate.
She’s falling for him, Constantly being pulled in, by his charm and fire, Though it feels so unclear, all so uncertain
Being in each others company brought them both joy and delight.
Old friends turning closer with every second they share.
But love, though tender, comes with its weight,
Taylor’s shadows linger, his demons innate.
Yet Re sees the man behind the shade
Seeing a future that’s both so far and near.
He struggles with demons, unstable, untrue,
But she glimpses the man he could grow into.
She’s not in love, but she feels the pull,
A heart not yet taken, but no longer full.
Each moment with him feels both right and wrong,
A fragile dance where she still stays strong.
She’s still holding on, though it tears her apart,
Hope keeps her near, though it takes its toll,
For she dreams of a day he’ll be fully whole.
For now, she’s caught in a tender haze,
She Falling for Taylor, through life’s winding maze.
But hope is a heavy thing to bear,
She cry’s in secret
When everything feels one-sided, and lifes unfair.
Still, Re stays, believing in him,
In the light she knows, though it grows dim ,
More and more each day.
Falling for him deeply, with all of her heart.
For in her mind, she sees the truth,
The man she knows, The boy she knew
But his addiction, won’t leave him be.
She knows that to truely be here for him,
she must love all of him, Drugs and all.
Accepting that his demons don’t always like to share.
Her heart aches deeply, caught in the tide,
Falling for someone she can’t always guide.
She always stays near, she will not leave,
Despite the cost, -She sees through the pain,
the man he could be,
A future of love shes determined to see.
