FINAL BOSS. Countdown to Riffmas Day XII: Bomb A Lil Joy, Baby Blue.

The debut album from Eugene Robinson (Buñuel, Whipping Boy, Oxbow) & Christian McKenna (End Christian, Pynuka) Produced by the band’s very own Christian McKenna and featuring Colin Marston (Gorguts), Justin Broadrick (Jesu), Anda Szilagyi (Pynuka), Kevin Hufnagel (Dysrhythmia) & Fred Keller (fancydrinkguys). Basically guests galore, producers galore, and a very different output from all people involved. Electronic surrealist music for inquisitive minds. Ear worms will definitely be a thing after listening.

Countdown to Riffmas Day XI: Ann Kroeber & Alan Splet, I Thought I Heard A Stranger.

To celebrate the memory of visionary Sound Artists Ann Kroeber and Alan Splet (both are known for their soundtrack work on David Lynch’s films Eraserhead, Dune, Lost Highway, and more) Pro Sound Effects collaborated with Translation Loss Records to release a limited-edition vinyl LP of soundscapes created entirely from Kroeber and Splet’s Sound Mountain Collection. Part experimental soundscape and part score to an imaginary film, I Thought I Heard a Stranger invites the listener on a wandering journey through abstract sonic environments, disjointed scenes set in liminal spaces, and ethereal dreamworlds full of unsettling beauty.

Countdown to Riffmas Day X: Generation of Vipers, Guilt Shrine. It’s a repress but we don’t just repress stuff for the heck of it 😎 the quickly sold out first pressing indicated that the compelling and absolutely punishing album was destined to be a classic. With Guilt Shrine, the band’s fifth studio album and first in 10 years, Generation of Vipers have delivered the most aggressive and introspective music they have written to date. And you should be able to grab it on vinyl!

It’s 35% off now until 12/23.

Countdown to Riffmas Day IX: Coastlands, S/T.

Intricately layered and dense, S/T’s masterful recording keeps revealing its secrets even after multiple, attentive listens. Exquisite synth and keyboard lines meld with pounding post-metal chug. Lush soundscapes and field recordings add layers of mystery and depth to each song, whether it’s an otherworldly sound being broadcast over a blast beat or an ecstatic moment of rare beauty like the ending of “Neverhere”. COASTLAND’s S/T is a phenomenal statement, one that not only demands your attention but also your raw, human connection.

Countdown to Riffmas Day VIII: A Single Flower is an epic opus that displays the strength and intensity of this Australian powerhouse. After 6 years, the post rock ensemble builds textures and harmony with heart wrenching beauty and nostalgic eeriness like you’ve never heard before.

Countdown to Riffmas VII: Forged in Chaotic Spew. Although technically a repress we could help but give this another shoutout since its brutality is so extreme. Sludge encrusted, doom wrecked, and absolutely dripping with raging death metal.

Did you know that the entire shop is 35% off now until 12/23? Well it is and you should treat yourself to someone extra 😈 naughty.

Countdown to Riffmas Day VI: Grayceon, Then The Darkness.

Then the Darkness presents Grayceon at their most haunting and visceral. On it’s eleven tracks, the non-traditional ‘power-trio’ composed of cellist/vocalist Jackie Perez Gratz (Giant Squid, Amber Asylum, etc.), guitarist Max Doyle and drummer Zack Farwell, create labyrinthine yet extremely memorable metallic compositions. Cello and guitar interplay and weave seamlessly to create boundless riffs and rhythms that bore into your psyche, leaving you humming its off-kilter melodies for the rest of the day. Perez Gratz’s vocals act as a guide through the maze of grief and other emotions; anguished shouts and screams give way to folkish singing and are capped off by moments of soaring vocal power.

Countdown to Riffmas Day V: The unearthly gutteral tones of Flesh Mourning, the second full length from one of the Pacific Northwest’s filthiest purveyors of old school death metal ravaged this year at TL HQ.

Formed from the ashes of Seattle stalwarts UN and steadily rising from Washington’s gloomy depths since 2019, Reburied has quickly made their mark on the Pacific Northwest scene and beyond. After releasing a well received demo and split LP with fellow Seattleites Deconsecration, Reburied spewed their debut full length Repulsive Nature onto an unsuspecting world via Translation Loss in 2023. Having played hundreds of shows all over the United States since it’s release, Reburied is looking to further entrench themselves as a singular entity in the death metal wasteland.

Get this and everything else you could ever hope for 35% off until 12/23.

Countdown to Riffmas IV: Chicago punks released Pay With Your Face earlier this year and we haven’t been the same since.

In the shadow of looming worldwide kleptocracy, Ready For Death unleashed PAY WITH YOUR FACE upon the world. On PAY WITH YOUR FACE, Dallas Thomas (guitars), Luca Cimarusti (bass, backing vocals and synths) and Shawn Brewer (drums) craft righteous, rugged bursts of brawny death/thrash delivered with the anarchic urgency of hardcore punk. Strains of Bolt Thrower, Voivod, High on Fire, Slayer, Black Flag and Thomas’ former cult outfit Asschapel can all be found in Ready for Death’s mutated DNA, but to assume the band is merely a sum of its parts would be a grave, ill-advised mistake. Artie White (vocals) yells, shouts and howls like a cornered scavenger on the precipice of annihilation, narrating his sarcastically deft tales of the Planetary War with the venomous indignation he is known for.

It’s a wild ride, y’all. Get this and everything else in the webshop for 35% off.

Countdown to Riffmas Day III: Decline

When thinking fondly about your nightmares isn’t an option, there is Vermin Womb to help you remember that the nightmare never actually ended. Reissuing Decline was a no brainer for us since it’s been on heavy rotation since its release in 2016. 10 tracks of dreadful, genre bending, pitch black & grinding metal that’s as chaotic as it is boundary breaking.

35% off now until 12/23 as well as the entirety of the web shop.
