Red Hot Prayer
John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.”
Luke 3:16
Our prayers must be red hot. It is the FERVENT (earnest, heartfelt) prayer that is effective (James 5:16). It takes fire to make prayers work. God wants warmhearted, on-fire servants. We are to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and with fire. We must lay on the altar until our natural, carnal nature and desires are consumed by His Holy Fire, and we can then rise and walk in the newness of life (Romans 6:4).
Fervency is warmth of (the fire burning in) our soul. If our faith does not set us on fire, it is because our hearts have become cold. God dwells in A Flame; the Holy Spirit descends in fire. To be absorbed in God’s Will and to be so earnest about doing His Will, is a symptom of a believer who prays effectively.
Dear God, let our spiritual hunger and thirst for You and Your Kingdom far exceed the natural appetites of our flesh. Let us strive to burn bright and hot for you, being living epistles that are read of men. You promised in Your Word that You would give us new hearts and new spirits. We want our prayers to You to have power and bring blessed change. In Jesus’ Matchless Name we pray, Amen.
