Well on my 83rd Birthday I learned a valuable lesson. My phone broke early in the morning, no calls, no FB, could not read post, respond to post. I said Lord what am I to learn from this; for three days I had no social media, I was not accused of over reacting, in fact I had no reactions, I had three days of peace, no throwing off, I realized I don't need to be on social media it can be addictive so FB Family and friends I concede!!!! Only if I am led by the Spirit or for advertisement ,but please remember me ๐Ÿ™

National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims was designated by Congress as September 25 in 2007. Robert and Charlotte Hullinger, of Cincinnati, formed Parents of Murdered Children following the 1978 murder of their 19-year-old daughter, Lisa, while she was studying in Germany. The annual day of observance is on the date Lisa was murdered.

National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims gives all people the opportunity to remember those lost to homicide, and honor their memories.

The awareness color for the Memory of Murder Victims is Black and Red.

THE E.Y.E. TELEVISION SHOW COMING SOON!
โ€œThe E.Y.E.โ€ which is the acronym for Empowering Youth Editorials television series is an hour-long program devoted to addressing issues faced by young men and women of African descent between the ages of 14 and 19 who live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and includes live performances by Independent R&B and hip-hop artists. This initiative is another weapon in our war against crime designed to stimulate our youth and give them the ability to express themselves and their creativity. After losing children to these senseless acts this program is a tool to prevent other young people from losing lives and using this a weapon to help them live. The E.Y.E. television series and monthly workshops provide a safe space for our youth to talk about all of the issues that they face on a daily basis with adults who have already experienced what they are currently dealing with and who want to show them how to smoothly navigate the tumultuous terrain of life that they are currently traveling. Additionally, โ€œThe E.Y.E.โ€ deals with the everyday problems and issues teens face and come up with positive solutions to keep teens from trying to escape through the use of violence, s*x, drugs or alcohol. The E.Y.E. will air on KIDS ROC TV and Global News Network which are powered by Elements Media Networks hosted by Empowering Youth Editorials Facilitator, Kendra Bethea. Kendra is qualified to help our youth as she is skilled at asking open-ended questions that require more than a yes or no answer which prepare our children and young adults to learn to be independent by making their own decisions as well as to support the interests of our youth and takes what they love a step further by using positive comments and open-ended questions to stretch their thinking.

GLOBAL NEWS NETWORK is minority owned television channel powered by Elements Media Networks, a global independent producer of first-run syndicated television programming. Elements Media Networks also owns and operates 3 HD Television Networks: E.M.N TV, KIDS ROC TV, and BEYOND ELEMENTS TV. E.M.N Studios is also a national independent film distribution provider in association with our partnership with AMC, REGAL and TUGG theaters. Our TV channels can be viewed via our website in any part of the world due to our browser-friendly web design and if you're a traditional TV viewer our content can be viewed in 18 cities on Com-Cast and Verizon via our network affiliates. Viewers can also watch our network stations via our EMN-TV APP and on the following devices ROKU, SLING--BOX, LG and SAMSUNG and coming soon to APPLE TV AND TIVO. Were also available via your basic cable package in selected states.

Elements Media Networks was founded by Howard Smith who created the company as a Film and TV entity of his Stuk.k World Entertainment Group venture as a writer and producer. He decided to launch the Network in its beta testing format as a beta APP in 2012 before signing a designing deal to present content on the ROKU and TIVO smart TV platforms.

GET IT DONE
Written By: Tyreek Howard Age 15

My Pen is far from a weapon
My Pen is a handy possession
A gun donโ€™t help me with expressions
A Pen is more powerful than it seems
A Pen can be your future and your dreams
PENS UP GUNS DOWN
You might not get it
Just think to yourself what does it really mean
I am the new writer learning to use my Pen
Imagine if we do this to bring violence to an end
We Can Do Letโ€™s get it done
PENS UP GUNS DOWN

WE DONโ€™T FIGHT WE WRITE
Written By: Masud Abdul-Jabbar 16 years old

I feel like everyone has the right to live their lives to the fullest, instead they are being killed by gun violence. In some cases people just want to kill someone, anyone, just to establish some kind of name for themselves or create a reputation for being on top, not understanding they are just street bullies.
I would like to see everyone come together and put their guns down, so we donโ€™t ever have to watch mothers and families crying over their loved ones. We need to learn how to communicate and listen to one another to solve our issues instead of taking it to the streets. So Pens Up Guns Down, We donโ€™t fight WE WRITE!

WE DESERVE TO LIVE TOO
Written By: Haasna Abdul-Jabbar 15 years old

I feel that victims of gun violence are victims of terrible tragedy. However, I believe that gun violence alone has become somewhat common in the United States and especially in Philadelphia. Itโ€™s sad to see how gun violence has shaped the lives of many families and are now also victims of their situations with seemingly no way out because it is common, almost expected.
The minimum sentence for people involved in discharging, possessing or brandishing a gun is 5 to 30 years in prison. Is that equal pay for losing a life? Is that equal pay for a motherโ€™s heartache or a brotherโ€™s loss. I think we should place more value on a human life than we do. I would like to see us as young people have the opportunity to grow up and become productive adults, but most of our generation donโ€™t make it past twenty due to this epidemic, We deserve to live too.

We already told you Pens Up Guns Down
We Donโ€™t Fight We Write!
So much more than just minorities in this town
We Donโ€™t Fight We Write!
Being silenced built a wall and itโ€™s time to tear it down
We Donโ€™t Fight We Write!
So with every ounce of intellect and emotion, We weather the storms of a violent ocean, So we wonโ€™t drown
We Donโ€™t Fight We Write!
Do yaโ€™ll hear thee? Let our words and voice let you feel thee, Listen to the futureโ€™s sound
We Donโ€™t Fight We Fight!
In the midst of bloodshed and darkness weโ€™re the light, Compositions of ideas, Morals, and Oaths that keep us Bound
We Donโ€™t Fight We Write!
Donโ€™t our youth deserve to live? Donโ€™t our elders need to heal? Isnโ€™t union our strongest shield!?
We Donโ€™t Fight We Write!
Now the time has come, For us to stop the Gun, The hatred we write undone, Our mothers need their son, Protection we need done, Our words we use as one and becomes a peace melody that we all need sung
Thatโ€™s whyโ€ฆWE DONโ€™T FIGHT WE WRITE!!!

PENS UP GUNZ DOWN
Written By: Leroy โ€œAmunRaSkiโ€ Riddick III Age 26

Emotions out of tact, feeling rage and thatโ€™s a fact, Pens Up Gunz Down!
Lost some family and friends, causes a pain deeper than a heart attack, Pens Up Gunz Down!
Thoughts of taking vengeance, grab my strap and c**k it back, but hold up...Pens Up Gunz Down!
My mental ainโ€™t right, got me pacing up at night, If I go and take this life,
I canโ€™t give this life back, Pens Up Gunz Down!
We supposed to be Brothers, causing pains to our mothers, nowhere safe for our sisters,
disappointment in our fathers...Pens Up Gunz Down!
Killing soldiers in our army, death and pain starts to swarm me...Pens Up Gunz Down!
Instead of letting gunz bust, how bout we just let our pens just, empty a clip of emotions
til our feeling are just...Pens Up Gunz Down!
Community needs healing, instead of head itโ€™s the truth that we need
to be peeling...Pens Up Gunz Down!
Instead of letting gunz bust, how bout we let our pens just, express what we feeling,
ainโ€™t yโ€™all tired of these killings, ainโ€™t yโ€™all tired of this feeling, all this pain we been dealing,
all this pain we be bearing see the key to all our healing...Pens Up Gunz Down!

As the city grapples with gun violence, a microgrant from the city has given many groups, including E.Y.E., the opportunity to take gun violence prevention into their own hands.

E.Y.E., short for empowering youth editorials, is led by former social worker and teacher Jacquelyn Bethea in Germantown.

"We have to do something, we gotta do something," Bethea said about crime in the area.
