Nikki Giovanni was vital to what we wished to communicate in the early days of The Black Experience in Music at WKDU. We felt it to be important that through what we played on the air we expressed the reality of life in America in the early 70's. She said what was important for us to express in our desire to connect with the Black community that surrounded the university at that time. Rest in Peace, Ms. Giovanni, and Thank You. We will remember and honor you as long as we are able to do so.
