Biodesign seeks to work with organisms, fusing design, life sciences, and engineering to find solutions to social, cultural, and environmental concerns while questioning responsibility and accountability when it comes to our ambitions of “human interest”.

We interviewed Penn’s own Orkan Telhan, Associate Professor of Fine Arts and a co-founder of Biorealize, to discuss the present and the future of biodesign as well as his journey of learning, practicing, and teaching biodesign as an world-renowned artist, researcher, entrepreneur, and teacher.

Check out our article written by Emre Guler to find out more about past, present, and future of biodesign and Prof. Telhan’s experience as a biodesigner- link in bio!

“How do we get each other to see what they don’t want to? How can we talk about growing wealth disparities, the climate crisis, and the inevitable fall of humanity in a way that doesn’t paralyze us?”

Artists Lea Devon Sorrentino and Natalie Hijinx believe the answer is “humor”. Through their work, the artists expose the absurdity in the structures that shape our lives, encouraging audiences see themselves in dystopian realties.

To learn more about Sorrentino and Hijinx’s work and how their exhibits challenge the traditional norms of gallery spaces, check out our article written by Adrianna Brusie- link in bio!
