Now more than ever before, it's not just "nice" to see autistic people by their strengths, including those with complex disabilities.
It is literally the *safer* option.
Chris Bonnello - Autistic Author

[Blue and red stick figures talking on a white background.
Blue: "We need to start seeing autistic people as being awesome."
Red: "But what if they’re profoundly disabled with huge learning difficulties?"
Blue: "Then we should *still* see them as awesome. A person’s worth shouldn’t depend on whether or not they have a disability."
Red: "True, but-"
Blue: "And when society is told that a group of people should never be seen positively, that group starts being seen as less worthy of love, respect, dignity or human rights. And history teaches us how dreadfully that always turns out."
Red: "Oh…"
Blue: "So really, it’s better to see autistic people as awesome, regardless of their support needs. Their futures are safer that way."
Red: "Fair point. Autistic people are awesome."]
