According to the county website, "Falcon was founded in September 1888 as a rail stop that served the nearby Franceville and McFerran coal mines as well as the mines owned by the Rock Island railroad." Today, the nearby Rock Island Trail follows the abandoned railroad from Falcon to Peyton, CO, with future expansion plans and
