We received the test pressings for @soulshakevibe ‘s album In This Moment today. So freakin stoked.
So what is a test pressing?! Basically, it’s the opportunity to listen for errors that might be present in the master that is used to stamp the grooves into your vinyl records.
The master is typically made by playing your music into a machine that lathe cuts grooves containing the audio into a blank disc that is either lacquer coated aluminum or, in the case of this record, a copper plate.
That disc is dropped into a big tank of dissolved nickel and through electrolysis the nickel adheres to the master and forms a negative of the grooves.
And presto, you have a nickel plate that can be used to stamp your music into hot melted vinyl 🫠
I don’t really know what I’m talking about here but it sounds cool and the point is there are a lot of opportunities for minor imperfections to show up in those tiny little grooves. So we get 5 discs to play back and check before we press the hundreds of records on order. A few little glitches are to be expected on any single pressed vinyl record though. So anytime we hear a glitch we go back and listen in the same place on the other discs to determine wether it’s an issue with that particular pressing, or if we hear it on all of them, an issue with the master itself.
If there’s an issue with the master they have to go back and cut a whole new disc. What a drag! Fortunately, this one sounds awesome 🤙
WE ARE PRESSING VINYL!!! It’s official, our kickstarter campaign goal is met and we are now working with the pressing plant to bring our 3rd album, In This Moment, to life on vinyl.

With the nonsensical nature reminiscent of a Wes Anderson movie from a dark alternate universe and a sound that somehow feels like the 90s, TMFT's foray into the musical universe paves the road for dead pan humor and a chaotic romanticization of 90s alt rock.

El Presidente is back! Jose takes a deep cut into the corruption of Latin American politics with his satirical re-election campaign as "The President."
A follow up to the massive success of his 2018 track "El Presidente Más Sincero Del Mundo" (The Most Sincere President In The World), a song whose lyrics portray what a Latin American politician would say if they actually told the truth. The dictator returns in "La Reelección" and dives into the hypocrisy of our leaders, poverty, collusion with narcos, and the effects of governing for self-interest over the needs of the people. ¡Vamos!
