*Dangerously cold arctic blast on the horizon!?*

Models have intensified the arctic blast towards the middle of January (10th-13th) and now show perhaps historic cold with temperatures 20-40 degrees below average for several days. Wind chills welllll below zero.

Now is this realistic? I would say it's possible but some modifying is likely as over the coming week but even if it does warm a little it's still dangerously cold.

This is something we need to monitor.

Freezing drizzle is possible late Sunday night into Monday morning along and north of a line from Cedar Rapids to Princeton Illinois line. This could impact the Monday morning commute with slick spots developing on area roads, sidewalks, and parking lots.
