Laborers’ Local 362 currently has a Picket up at the Marriot in Uptown Normal on Edelmann Construction Inc., ECI, for no signed contract and paying substandard wages to employees. Shame on The Marriot for hiring an out of state contractor to do a complete remodel on a building that was built 100% Union! The Contractor Superintendent onsite told me the workers were from all over the Country “California, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas” are the states he named! The Marriot is even housing the workforce, 30-50 workers on the entire 8th floor of the Marriot while they demo and remodel the 9th floor. The other floors are still open to hotel guests! I wonder if the Marriot even knows who is in their building? Thank you to the UA Local 99 for standing with us in Solidarity on the Picket Line! There is also a Non-Union Plumbing Contractor onsite, Lungro’s.

If you have time, drive by the Marriot and give the Picketers a Honk in support of Hiring Local Workers!

Representatives will be onsite to showcase the opportunities in each trade and to answer any questions related to our gold standard apprenticeship programs!
