It's NATIONAL RESCUE DOG DAY! ❤️🐾 We love that rescue animals have several national days devoted to them and today is one of our favorites! It is a day to celebrate and bring awareness to rescue dogs! Rescue dogs are amazing. They overcome many obstacles and are incredibly resilient. Plus, if you have ever been lucky enough to be owned by a rescue dog, you know they show love and gratitude like no other. As many of you also know, they make wonderful companions! In honor of their day, we would love to see your rescue dogs! Post pics!

Autism Pensacola sat in on PEP Talk this morning in recognition of Autism Acceptance Month. Joining Mary McClellan (Executive Director) and Mike White (API Board Member) was Lisa Oliver, grandmother to Levi Williams, who explained how she is turning her grief into advocacy. We thank her so much for joining us and speaking out about how Levi's legacy will live on to better the lives of so many children and families affected by autism.

Join us today at 10:30am as we talk to Mary McClellan, Director of Autism Pensacola Inc and her special guests.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping all Escambia County citizens safe. This includes those with Autism and their families. In 2021, we launched an initiative that will alert first responders if someone with autism may occupy a vehicle or home they may interact with.

Here is how the program works:
The ECSO is providing decals at no charge. You can place the decal in a front window or door of your home. They can also be placed on the rear window of your vehicle. The decal is a symbol, allowing first responders to know that there may maybe a person inside with Autism. ECSO deputies will then know to approach the situation with their Autism training skills.

To participate in this program, fill out the form provided by clicking the "Autism Decal" Link below, and your decal will be sent to your home. If you are interested in the program and don’t want to place the decal on your home, you can still fill out the form. This will allow your home to be flagged in the ECSO system, still alerting us that a person with autism resides in the home.

The more information that our deputies have responding to a call, the better. As your Sheriff, it’s an honor to serve all residents in our community and make it a safer place to work and live.
