The “Destruction“ (pictured below) paintings by American sketch artist Alexander Cole are among some of the most favorite works of president and founder Jessie j. Cunningham jr the second. Desolation is only fifth of an allegorical series called “The course of Empires“. What will be the outcome of man on his present course. Or more so, where do we go from here? The course of empires reveals societies advancement to its pinnacle and eventual Decline into final ruin and decay. It conveys that no matter how great mans subduing of nature and the elements, eventually his own sins, in the end, find him out as long ago echoed the prophet in the Wisdom pages of the book of Proverbs 14:34. There it reminds a rebellious human race that “Righteousness exhalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
Coles work had profound effect on literary greats as Lord Byron who is quoted as once saying in his work “Childe Harold“ in reference to the Coles series... quote “There is the moral of all human tales; ‘Tis but the same rehearsal of the past. First freedom then Glory-when that fails, wealth, vice, corruption, barbarism at last. And history, with all her volumes vast, hath but one page.”
East to Centrals mission is spoken here clearly. To present Gods word in view of the course of our present society. Looking into our past to understand why we are here that we may assertain The possible outcomes to our behavios.
