David Christopher “Coop” Cooper, president and CEO of Media Solutions Inc., passed away December 7 after a long medical battle.

(Media Solutions is the publisher of Gear Solutions, Thermal Processing, and Wind Systems magazines.)

Mr. Cooper was born in Coos Bay, Oregon, and, after decades of experience within the B2B publishing industry, launched Media Solutions in December 2002 with the publication of Gear Solutions’ inaugural issue in April 2003.

Not content with resting on the success of Gear Solutions, Mr. Cooper continued to expand his publishing portfolio across other industries with Wind Systems in May 2009 and Thermal Processing in November 2012.

He was an Army veteran and an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. After an accident in his 20s left him partially paralyzed, he would later advocate for accessibility and continued education for people with spinal injuries.

Although his office is empty, Mr. Cooper’s publishing legacy will continue. That’s just what Coop would have wanted.
