On Sunday, January 28th, the Lions Club of Larchmont/Mamaroneck will celebrate their Centennial as part of their annual “Points of Light” event. The event will recognize the many service groups and individuals who respond to the needs of our community. The event will include the announcement of the recipients of the Jack Coughlin Community Service awards – Kate Bialo, of the Furniture Sharehouse and The Washingtonville Housing Alliance, for their outstanding service to the needs of the people in the Larchmont Mamaroneck community. County executive George Latimer will be the keynote speaker.

On Sunday, January 28th, the Lions Club of Larchmont/Mamaroneck will celebrate their Centennial as part of their annual “Points of Light” event. The Archbishop Stepinac High School’s acclaimed Stepinac Theater will stage a production of “Clue,” a hilarious murder mystery based on an iconic movie which was inspired by the classic Hasbro board game of the same name. “Clue” takes place at a remote mansion where six mysterious guests assemble for an unusual dinner party. When their host turns up dead, they all become suspects.
The talented young actors will take to the Stepinac High School stage with three performances. These performances will take place on Wednesday, January 24, Thursday, January 25 and Saturday, January 27th at 6:00pm. These performances will be held in the Major Bowes Auditorium, located at 950 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY. Tickets at $20 each can be ordered by visiting the website, www.stepinac.org and clicking the Theatre tab at the top of the homepage.

The Westchester County Youth Bureau and Youth Board and are pleased to announce the release of the 2023 Youth Service Awards application. This year, the Westchester County Youth Board will select and honor youth who have demonstrated leadership and/or service with a social justice lens in their community.
Nominees must be a current high school junior or senior that is a resident of Westchester County. These students should exhibit a commitment to improving society through leadership and volunteerism. The award criteria are described more fully on the nomination form. The form can be found here: https://youth.westchestergov.com/youth-bureau

To ring in the holiday season, Playland is partnering with Veterinary Emergency Group to bring you Festive Pet Family Portraits! On Sunday, December 3rd, head down to the Playland Beach Boardwalk with your family and pet to participate in a picture-perfect photo op. Your furry or feathered friend can get dressed up in their holiday best and get their picture taken in an adorable Winter Wonderland or Santa-themed photo shoot! Pictures are available at $20, and all proceeds will go directly to VEG Cares, Veterinary Emergency Group’s philanthropic branch, to help local under-served pets in the White Plains area.
The event will begin at 11:00am and run until 3:00pm, so come in your most festive holiday attire, as VEG will be giving away merchandise to the best dressed pets and patrons.

To continue its ongoing WellSpring Series, The Osborn will be presenting the Purchase Dance Company!
The Purchase Dance Company will perform exciting excerpts from their fall repertory, including classical ballet and contemporary dance works. The show will feature BFA Dance majors from the Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College, with a chance for dialogue with the dancers after the performance. Purchase College is recognized as having one of the nation’s most highly regarded dance conservatories, whose students embody professionalism, versatility, and virtuosity.
The Osborn’s WellSpring program engages seven dimensions that enrich lives: intellectual, social, physical, environmental, occupational, emotional, and spiritual. At The Osborn, residents can stay fit by taking exercise classes, swimming in the indoor pool, or walking on the picturesque arboretum grounds. They can paint in the art studio, browse in the three libraries, view films and listen to live music, and enjoy an array of other fitness, cultural, and social activities.
With the fall 2023 WellSpring Series, The Osborn welcomes the wider community to share world-class cultural programs close to home. The final WellSpring event of this season will feature Christina Baker Kline, acclaimed author of The Exiles, on December 6.

On November 11th at 11:30am, attendees from across Westchester County will gather at Playland to “take the plunge” into the freezing waters of the Long Island Sound.
The Polar Plunge is one of the most popular, profitable, and exciting fundraisers for Special Olympics New York. Participants raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics New York athletes in the Hudson Valley Region.

This past Sunday, the Harrison High School Varsity Game Day Cheerleading team became the second girls team at Harrison High School to secure a Section Title, earning the highest score at Sectionals across all classes while beating out 9 other teams. This Sunday, November 5th, they will continue to the first Game Day Cheerleading State Championship in Binghamton, New York.
A send off breakfast at Harrison High School will be held Saturday, November 4th at 8:30am, after which the girls will board the bus to the State Championship. You're invited by Harrison High School to wish these incredible young athletes luck before the competition!
