Disability Day is today and tomorrow is Senior Day! Don't miss out on fun at the fair! Wednesday Senior Day has Pine Grove Church 9am, First Baptist Church 10am, and Ronnie McDowell 11am.
๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐ก Commissioner Gipson invites everyone to attend the 166th Mississippi State Fair and announces the schedule of events taking place today, Tuesday, October 7, through Wednesday, October 8, 2025. All events take place on the Mississippi State Fairgrounds.
We are delighted that TODAY, the Mississippi State Fair will host our first-ever Disability Friendly Day, sponsored by Joni & Friends, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event will include sensory tents for calm and quiet breaks; inclusive activities and entertainment; classic fair favorites adapted for accessibility; and a Resource Carnival which provides a fun environment to learn about the many resources that are available to those who live with disabilities. Disability Friendly Day is free of charge for families and individuals impacted by disabilities. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for this event, though fairgoers can register at the gates upon arrival. There will also be multiple working and herding dog shows held inside the Kirk Fordice Equine Center. Today, the Stock Dog Trial starts at 9:00 a.m. and the Stock Dog Cattle Trial will start at 6:00 p.m. The Stock Dog Trial returns on Wednesday, starting at 9:00 a.m. All three shows are free to the public.
๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ ๐บ๐ธ TOMORROW Senior American Day at the Mississippi State Fair will be held on Wednesday, October 8, inside the Coliseum. The doors will open at 8:00 a.m. This annual event is open to all ages, with activities especially geared toward senior citizens. Several vendors and information booths will be in attendance including the Mississippi Department of Health; Mississippi Department of Human Services; Senior Medicare Patrol; The Elder Law Firm; Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company; Mississippi Library Commission; Mississippi Egg Marketing Board; Mississippi HomeCare of Jackson; and Humana. Also, the University of Mississippi Medical Centerโs School of Nursing and St. Dominic Health Medical Center will provide free health screenings.
In addition to a concert by music legend Ronnie McDowell, two new, patriotic shows have been added to the entertainment lineup for Senior American Day this year. Pine Grove Church of Walnut Grove will present a historic, theatrical presentation, โFor God and Country,โ at 9:00 a.m., which will be followed by a special time of Prayer and Rededication for America. Then, the musical performance โLet Freedom Ring!โ will be presented by the First Baptist Jackson Choir and Orchestra at 10:00 a.m. Award-winning artist Ronnie McDowell will then wrap up celebrations with a performance at 11:00 a.m. Church and school groups are invited to attend; admission to Senior American Day is free; enter at the Coliseum.
The 166th Mississippi State Fair, which runs through October 13, is participating in the Great American State Fair initiative as part of the nationwide America250 celebrations. Fairgoers are encouraged to wear red, white and blue, and special, patriotic events will be held throughout the duration of the fair. Find the complete schedule of fair events at www.msstatefair.com.
