Robert Frost first published โToo Anxious for Riversโ with its unusual and ancient dactyls in 1947 in his book ๐๐ต๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ฆ ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ฉ. I have thought more about this poem than any other since my high school English teacher, Mr. Rapaport, assigned it when I was seventeen. It continues to unfold and reinvent itself almost daily. It is unendingly enchanting. I imagine the reference to Hindu mythology surprised a few people in post-war America. Apologies to the bass anglers who must have found it odd to see me in a business suit while driven around in an old jon boat.
