Over the past two months of DJing weddings, I’ve heard of photographers, Caterers, and DJ’s bailing on weddings at the last minute. The reason I’m making this post is I hear multiple times for people looking for a “reasonable” something. Do yourself a favor and spend a little extra money in places that are critical for making your day possible. As a DJ, we are normally the first vendor on site, and usually the last vendor to leave. If we book you for five hours, that really means 9 hours plus for us.

DJ: myth - just play some music and run a playlist
DJ: fact - DJ keeps activities flowing, sometimes releases tables, coordinates timeline, keeps guests busy while pictures are being taken, provides music for ceremony, and lastly provides dance music

Photographers: myth - just take pictures
Photographers: fact - they capture your day, and then spend hours editing your memories

Caterer: myth - they make the food and sometimes serve
Caterer: fact - how many weddings have you been to that take FOREVER to serve the guests (rule of thumb - more than 75 people use both sides of the table) - how many times have you heard that food was dry, not cooked, or just taste like rubber?

Do your homework before booking…. Ask for references…. Okay to work within your “budget”, but be cautious what you ask for…
