Highway 6 reopens west of Parkers Prairie
October 10, 2024 ─ OTTER TAIL COUNTY, Minn.─ The Otter Tail County Highway Department patched Highway 6 at Nelson Lake on Wednesday, October 9th. The highway had been closed for over three months until the water receded.
Otter Tail County thanks travelers for their patience with the temporary closure. The Highway Department will continue monitoring water levels and expects the detour to be needed again when our area receives more precipitation.
“Public safety is a high priority for the Highway Department,” said County Engineer Krysten Foster. “While we recognize the inconvenience of a detour, it’s most important that travelers who use Highway 6 arrive safely at their destinations.”
Otter Tail County also continues to work towards permanent relief for the affected residents, and the Highway Department will communicate with first responders to ensure efficient response times during road closures.
