How It All Began...
Smittyyy’s Studio & Brewery is owned & operated by father / son pair, Matt & Shane Smith. Shane has been a drummer since he was about 4, when his parents gave him his 1st drum kit. The studio began as a simple rehearsal space for Shane’s childhood bands, such as The Frost, and Phoeni###. As time went by, Matt & Shane collected more and more gear, and more and more musicians came through that basement. The rehearsal space gradually started to morph into more than just a spot to jam. Musicians did not just rehearse there, they began using the equipment to record music, grow at their craft, and to have a good time. In Shane’s late - teen’s / early 20’s he began exploring his interest in producing music for other’s, as opposed to just playing it himself. This is where the studio officially began. Shane went out to the local music shop, bought all the newest recording gear, and opened up for business. The studio runs Pro Tools (DAW) for recording, has a Presonus interface, and M - Audio monitors. The studio has multiple drum kits, roughly 15 guitars, multiple basses, plenty of options for amps, and various other instruments such as saxophone, clarinet, violin, and more. The family had everything that they needed, except for a name. So they sat down for a beer, and began brainstorming. Ultimately, it was decided to call this new venture “Smittyyy’s Studio & Brewery”, partly due to the fact that at the time, Matt & Shane also were brewing their own beer. The brewery was never meant to be made “official”, but the name derives more from an “inside joke” between the family & close friends (if you come in to see us, be sure to ask!). With this new gear, and name, the studio began recording songs for musicians such as Kyle Chatham (who would later become the lead singer of Shane’s current project - Kyle Chatham & The Road Shots), Paul Chase ( who would become Kyle Chatham & The Road Shots lead guitarist), One Man Church, and more. Smittyyy’s Studio & Brewery has production credits for Shane’s old bands Altitude Travelers, on their CD’s “Live From The Toad Tavern”, and “L!VE”, as well as the recording of the drums for Riot Pilots self titled EP (With the help of Open Stage Denver & Deep Freeze Studio). The Studio has also become very well - known for being the production home of multiple podcasts such as “The Fear Of” Series by Author - Dawna Hetzler, and Trudging Together with Dion Miller. Other artists we have worked in the studio with include - Morbyd of Wicked Intent Records, The I Dunno’s (Another 1 of Shane’s old projects), Smillez Music, and much more!!! Currently, the business is working on many projects, including 1 to be announced on Halloween 2020. Stay tuned for info on that!!!
Today, we offer recording. mixing, and mastering for all kinds of bands and artists. We also specialize in becoming the new home for your podcast!!!
