Ste. Genevieve junior Alex Basler scored 23 points in Friday’s win over crosstown rival Valle Catholic. Basler shot 10/16 from the field and hit three 3-pointers throughout the contest. Two of those 3s came in the second quarter, arguably, when Ste. Gen needed points the most. Basler and the rest of the Dragons also played solid defense throughout, especially in the fourth quarter, where Ste. Genevieve was able to hold off the Warriors to win this year’s edition of the Old Settlement rivalry matchup.
