⚠️ Power Outage Update for Delta and Lamar Counties - 1/9/2025 ⚠️

Due to downed power lines from recent winter weather, power outages are affecting numerous residence in Delta County (613 customers) and Lamar County (1,284 customers) Restoration crews are actively working, but the estimated restoration time for many areas is approximately 7:00 AM on January 10th, 2025 depending on conditions and resources. Please remain patient as Oncor teams work to repair and restore power safely.

How to Stay Warm During the Outage:

•Layer Up:🧥 Wear multiple layers of warm clothing, socks, and a hat to conserve body heat.

• Use Blankets and Sleeping Bags Wrap up tightly, and use extra blankets or sleeping bags for insulation.

• Close Off Unused Rooms: Concentrate heat in one room by keeping doors closed to limit drafts.

• Block Drafts: Use towels, blankets, or even clothes to seal gaps under doors or windows.

• Stay Active: Light physical activity (like moving around or stretching) can help boost circulation and body warmth.

‼️ Important Safety Reminders ‼️

• Generator Safety: If using a generator, ensure it is OUTDOORS and away from windows and doors to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning.

• Avoid Open Flames: Be cautious with candles or other open flames—never leave them unattended.

• Preserve Food: Keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed to preserve perishable items during the outage.

We appreciate the patience and resilience of all those affected, and a heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to the hardworking utility crews and emergency responders braving these conditions to restore power and keep everyone safe. Stay warm, Delta and Lamar Counties!

I’VE NEVER USED A TRAVEL AGENT BEFORE. HOW DOES THIS WORK??

I get this all the time!! Here’s the deal….I do all the heavy lifting and you just pay and go on vacay!! You could plan it yourself, but WHY??? In most cases, I don’t charge you anything, so I do all the research, planning, and vacay coordinating, answer all your questions, and am “by your side” the entire time before, during, and after travel. If something goes awry, I'm right there to help you handle it.

SO HOW DO YOU GET PAID?

I get paid a commission AFTER you travel by who you choose to travel with. That cost is built into every single vacay…even if you use the big dot coms, hotels direct, etc…those corporations just pocket that profit, and you don’t get any personalized help. You can call their 1-800 numbers, but you’ll likely have to wait a while, and then there’s a 50/50 chance the phone agent can even help. Your time is worth way more than that.

By utilizing my professional services, you receive my individualized personal attention from start to finish. Your vacay is my vacay!! You don’t pay anything more and support a small, local, woman-owned business!!

I work for you at no additional cost!

I’m up waiting on the Maldives reservation department to open at 9am their time, which is 10 pm my time.

Travel agents provide customer service that those 1800 call centers or 3rd party websites can’t provide. When you book with me you get a personal relationship and someone to help you through the entire travel process, not just the booking.

My services are free to you! My commission is already built into your vacation price! Let me help you save money and guide you every step of the way!

🚨 Stop Sign Runner Leads to Felony Arrest! 🚔

In a twist of events last Friday, a routine traffic stop turned into much more. An alert Paris officer caught a driver running a stop sign on Tudor Street, but little did they know what would unfold next.

When asked for ID, the driver claimed to be "Daniel McCarthy" - but that's not how this story ends! It turns out, our mystery man was actually 32-year-old Trivel Andrew Dunwood Jr., wanted on a felony warrant for manufacturing and delivering controlled substances.

Dunwood didn't just face his existing warrant - he also racked up a new charge for failing to identify himself and providing false information. Talk about digging a deeper hole!

Remember, staying vigilant and reporting suspicious activity helps keep our streets safe. Let's work together to make Paris a safer place for everyone! 👮‍♂️🤝

🚨 Local Law Enforcement in Action: Felony Warrant Arrest in Paris

On a seemingly ordinary Friday morning, our vigilant Paris officers demonstrated their commitment to community safety.

At 9:55 AM on November 29th, an officer's keen eye spotted a vehicle with an obscured third brake light in the 300 block of Fitzhugh Avenue. This routine observation led to a significant arrest.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered that the passenger, 48-year-old Glenda Sue Potter, had an outstanding felony warrant from Lamar County. The charge? Felony Motion to Revoke-Credit or Debit Card Abuse of the Elderly.

Ms. Potter was promptly taken into custody and booked into the Paris Jail. The driver, found to be uninvolved, was released at the scene.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of routine traffic stops and the unexpected turns they can take.

Remember, if you see something suspicious, say something. Together, we can make Paris a safer place for all.

🚨 Vehicle Theft Alert: Swift Recovery in SE 17th Street Area 🚗

In the early hours of Thursday, Nov. 28, our community faced a concerning incident. At 7:34 am, a resident in the 800 block of SE 17th Street woke up to find her 2017 Chevrolet Equinox missing from her driveway.

Despite having the only key in her possession, the vehicle vanished without a trace. But here's where things took an unexpected turn...

Just two hours later, at 9:27 am, while Paris Police Officers were patrolling in the George Wright Homes apartment complex, officers made the discovery of the stolen vehicle – locked and seemingly untouched!

The owner quickly arrived to reclaim her car, only to find three lab coats and sunglasses missing. In a stroke of luck, the lab coats were recovered from a nearby dumpster.

Paris Police swiftly processed the vehicle for evidence and returned it to the relieved owner. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting.

🚨 Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Surprising Drug Bust in Paris 🚨

What started as a simple parking violation quickly escalated on Wednesday afternoon. At 2:35 PM, a Paris officer spotted an illegally parked vehicle on Sperry Avenue. Little did they know what would unfold next...

As the officer approached, 58-year-old Berlyn Don Stuckey exited the vehicle. Despite repeated requests, Stuckey refused to remove his hands from his pockets. The situation intensified when he resisted detention, pulling out a glass pipe and tossing away a can of to***co.

Quick action by our officer led to Stuckey's arrest without further incident. He now faces multiple charges, including:

• Felony Possession of Controlled Substance (M**h)
• Felony Tampering with Physical Evidence
• Two additional misdemeanor drug charges

This incident serves as a reminder of the unexpected challenges our officers face daily.
