The Arthur M. Anderson passes Whitefish Point this morning after waiting out the high winds and lake effect snow overnight on Whitefish Bay. About 7 other freighters also anchored in Whitefish Bay to wait out the storm. A drop in the temperatures caused sea smoke out on Lake Superior this morning as well as more snow showers.

AHH! The sun at sunrise and a wicked southeast wind whipping across Lake Superior's Whitefish Bay. The woods are snowy, the shoreline is getting icy...sounds like Winter is on the way! 70 ish inches and counting so far and a few days left of hey oh what Autumn that's right! Welcome to Paradise!

Paradise Pathway South Trail Groomed Today

Randy did the impossible and groomed the South trail on his own. He cut and removed trees from the trail in 4 1/2 to 5 feet of snow and used TCPA’s Skidoo Skandic to pack the trail and then groom it.

Randy started work on the North trail but it involves 5 miles of getting stuck in snow up to his waist if he has to stop to remove trees or branches dragged down on the trails by heavy snow. The photo of our stuck snowmobile is from today.

Help is on the way! Kevin Dennis, Tahquamenon Falls State Park Manager, is sending several park employees to help Randy with the fallen trees on the North trail. Thank you, Kevin!

If you see Randy, please give him a big thank you for his phenomenal work. Get out and enjoy Randy’s hard work on the South trail!

Addendum: Paradise Pathway trails are non-motorized and snowmobiles are not allowed on them. For all of you snowmobiling enthusiasts, the Paradise area has fantastic snowmobile/ORV trails that are maintained and groomed by the Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org.
