Good morning!
My Friday fan question is this:
Did you see the Beatles in concert? Or did you see any of the individual Beatles in concert?

Many years ago WPFM here in Panama City had a radio call-in contest (remember those!) and I won 2 tickets to see Paul McCartney in Atlanta a the Omni. The radio station chartered a bus for the winners. It was February of 1990, and it was the first tour where he really focused on Beatles tunes. And there was an amazing slide sho of Linda’s photography. I count myself fortunate to have been there.

What about you? Any concert memories you’re willing to share?

Here’s the set list from the show!

"Figure of Eight"
"Jet"
"Got to Get You into My Life"
"Rough Ride"
"Band on the Run"
"We Got Married"
"Let 'Em In"
"The Long and Winding Road"
"The Fool on the Hill"
"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"
"Good Day Sunshine"
"Can't Buy Me Love"
"Put It There"
"Things We Said Today"
"Eleanor Rigby"
"This One"
"My Brave Face"
"Back in the U.S.S.R."

So what do the two pictures below have in common? I’m sure most of you guessed correctly that they’re both blackbirds. But neither was the reason for my favorite song on the White album. Paul wrote Blackbird while in Scotland, not long after the violence in Little Rock over school desegregation. The story goes that he read about women and girls being terribly treated by law-enforcement. And you also need to remember that the word bird in the UK could also stand for a woman or a girl, therefore Blackbird is all about the struggle of the black woman in America and a hope and desire for freedom. so if you didn’t know this about the song, sit down and listen to it for the first time all over again. It should’ve been an anthem.

Happy Birthday George!

Happy Birthday George!

02/25/2022

Well first off thank you so much if you have clicked on to like or follow this very young page. I really hope to put up some interesting Beatles related stuff as often as I can. And then in that light, as it is February 25,

Happy Birthday George Harrison!

As deadly bar fights have been started by such a divisive question such as, what’s your favorite Beatle song? I hope to never do that. But,
Do you have a favorite line or two of a song?
I’ll start.
“Her name was McGill, and she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy.”

There’s a whole life in that string of words, the heroine of a best selling true crime series, maybe a movie or two, I’ve always wanted to meet her.
