I had the privilege of photographing two proud grandparents with their seven energetic grandkids at St. Andrews State Park. The bond between them was undeniable, and their laughter echoed across the shoreline, creating memories as vibrant as the golden sunset.

This session was a bit different for me—shot in a lighter, airier style than my usual approach. The result? Images that feel as warm and joyful as the family’s connection. It’s always a joy to step outside the box and try something new, especially for a family as special as this one.

🎶 Capturing the Music Scene 🎶

I’ve been blown away by the praise from Jake and John from .gentler, who mentioned how many folks were asking about my shots from this summer’s multi-band concert. Huge shoutout to The Someday Maybes, too, for inflating my ego—I appreciate the love, y’all!

To all Bay County bands across genres: As a musician, I know how vital it is to have high-quality photos that capture the energy and essence of your performances. Whether it’s for promoting your next gig, connecting with fans, or just preserving the memory, great visuals are a must.

That said, I want to give a huge nod to the regular shooters who consistently show up at shows and do what they do so well. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and I have a ton of respect for you.

As for me? I’m admittedly a bit inconsistent because:
1️⃣ I’m a proud dad and husband, and my family always comes first.
2️⃣ I’m also performing with my own band, so I’m often on stage instead of behind the lens.

When I do get the chance to shoot, I aim to bring a fresh perspective and a unique style to my work. Plus, I don’t just stop at photography—I have a history of creating music videos, too, including a few with The Dunzos . I'd love to collaborate if you’re looking for someone to help you tell your story visually.

Photography and video work are more than just passions for me—they’re part of how I support my family. While I can’t always work for free, I strive to deliver value that speaks for itself.

🌅 Family Moments and Life Reflections 🌅

Back in August, I had the joy of photographing this wonderful family of four at St. Andrews State Park during one of those perfectly clear, golden sunsets. Their connection was as warm as the sunset, and it reminded me of how precious these moments are—the ones we capture and the ones we live through.

But I’ll be honest: This year has been tough for me, personally and professionally. Despite not raising my prices, I’ve only had about a third of the bookings I made last year. There have been moments where I’ve been ghosted, called crazy for my pricing, or abandoned after hours of discussion. It’s frustrating and disheartening, especially as I balance the stress of getting ready to retire from the USAF and navigating the VA process to secure my family’s future.

Many tell me, “You have your business,” and I’m so grateful to have this creative outlet, but bookings have been sparse. I can’t drop my prices without undercutting other hardworking photographers, and the truth is, I should probably raise them to match my value.

But through it all, and even while battling anxiety, what keeps me going is knowing that these moments—the ones like the ones I captured with this family—are what matter. And as uncertain as things may feel, I’m not giving up. Photography is my passion, and connecting with you, my clients, continues to inspire me most.
