We are thrilled to invite you to a special Bandcamp Listening Party this Monday, February 3rd at 8:00 PM PT.
Over the years, composer William Susman has had the privilege to compose music for several award-winning documentaries. Last year, we had a wonderful Bandcamp Listening Party where he shared music from Music for Moving Pictures—the soundtracks of three unusual films. This time, we’re diving into the score for Fate of the Lhapa, a documentary directed in 2007 by Sarah Sifers. For the first time, the album will be available on Bandcamp!
Fate of the Lhapa is an award-winning film about the last three Tibetan shamans, who have lived in a refugee camp in Pokhara, Nepal since 1962.
The score, which features the ethereal vocals of NEA National Heritage Fellow Tsering Wangmo Satho (one of the first generation of refugees born in Dharamsala, India) and legendary Grammy-nominated cellist Joan Jeanrenaud, beautifully blends Asian and Western sounds to evoke a deeply spiritual and mystical journey.
We would love for you to join us this Monday to experience this powerful and evocative music and look forward to sharing it with you!

Critics have raved about the score’s ability to stand alone from the film, with Stage and Cinema describing it as "supernatural... sumptuous touches of resonance... trance-inducing balminess." Meanwhile, All Music Guide praises it for creating "an atmosphere that amplifies the wonder, beauty, and melancholy" of the film’s story.
We can’t wait to share this journey with you!
