Julia Segal, a junior and avid musician at Gunn High School, noticed that her younger sister was having difficulty keeping herself occupied during quarantine. She began to give her sister music lessons, and realized that more children around the world could benefit from learning music during quarantine. Thus, QuaranTunes was born, giving more children aged 4-14 the chance to study music with talented teenaged musicians. All that the organization asks for in return is a donation to the CDP COVID-19 response fund. Now, QuaranTunes boasts a staff of over 25 teachers and has raised over $500 in just a few short weeks of operation. For more information, visit quarantunes.site or their instagram

BREAKING NEWS: just released the following guidelines in regards to COVID-19 and concerns over public health. "All field trips, All school dances, including prom, Group assemblies greater than 100 people, CAASPP testing, Professional learning events, Parent education events, School open houses, PAUSD Career Fair, PAUSD Leadership Institute, [and] All elementary and middle school performances" are being cancelled. This does not include but does limit activities such as High School performances. All parents and visitors will not be allowed to enter campus during school hours. PAUSD is working hard to ensure that they are taking the best precautions to ensure all student and staff safety. Summer school and Graduation events are still currently scheduled to occur.

BREAKING NEWS: to opt-out of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress(CAASPP) set to take place later this month. This will not affect the AP Exams set to take place in May as they are optional exams. The district and administration have yet to decide whether or not school events will be cancelled due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19. The verdict is set to be released around 6:00pm tonight via PAUSD website and site emails.

PALY OPEN TOMORROW, IGNORE PHOTOSHOPPED SCHOOLOGY POST
Several Paly teachers plan to participate in the A Day Without A Woman strike tomorrow. Confusion arose about whether Paly would remain open when a photoshopped Schoology post surfaced on social media. As of now, the administration says school will CONTINUE AS SCHEDULED. They will notify students and their families via Infinite Campus/Schoology if school is canceled.
