On April 7th, at 7:11am, a strange cloud formation appeared over Lazy Mountain and Matanuska Peak. By 7:13am, it had disappeared behind the mountains.

A shiny object with dark smoke trailing behind it appeared to be descending towards the horizon. The purpose of this page is to document the media phenomenon caused by this event. Just a few days after the event, the photos and the speculation about the cause crossed the globe, both on Facebook, on news sites and in printed form.
