We have all felt the effects of what a nearly 3-year pandemic does to your mind, body, and spirit. Many of us feel heavier and lonelier. More specifically, youth across the globe have seen higher rates of anxiety, depression, feelings of isolation and ultimately, su***de as they try to adjust and navigate this global pandemic.

Something has to change. We need to foster conversations with our youth about how to provide vital support to themselves and one another. BRAVE (Be Resilient and Voice Emotions), a program of Care Connect+, and established by Flagler Health+, has been working to encourage youth mental wellness since before the pandemic even began.

Registration is now open for the 2nd annual BRAVE Summit, where we will bring together high school students from all over NE Florida to talk about these issues and learn together, how we can foster mental wellness and provide the necessary mental health support they need. Our goal is that this event will spark conversations not just for a day, but for 365 days a year and beyond. Conversations that lead to advocacy, funding, and new programming for youth mental health. Conversations that can ultimately save lives.

So, what can you do? Share the word about the event to 9th-12th graders in NE Florida and encourage them to attend. Register at bit.ly/BRAVE2022 Not quite in the attendance demographic but want to support this initiative? We’d love your sponsorship and support! We can’t do this alone. Learn more or give at bit.ly/BRAVEgive.

Have you experienced zoom fatigue?

As the COVID-19 pandemic forces in-the-flesh life into the virtual realm of seemingly infinite Zoom meetings, more of us seem to be experiencing that same sense of lassitude, so much so that the phenomenon has earned the moniker "Zoom fatigue."

“Getting kids involved in yoga and meditation is a life-long win for them. Both yoga and meditation teach kids the benefits of fitness, but they are also valuable coping skills that kids can key into during life’s challenges,” says yoga teacher Kerin Monaco.

If you think yoga is about flexibility, challenging poses, and a Zen attitude, you’ve got part of it. Yoga has physical and emotional benefits for people of all ages, including children.“Getting kids involved in yoga and meditation is a life-long win for them. Both yoga and meditation teach kids...

A growing body of research points to the beneficial effects that exposure to the natural world has on health, reducing stress and promoting healing. Now, policymakers, employers, and healthcare providers are increasingly considering the human need for nature in how they plan and operate.

Just being there for someone can make a big difference.

Just being there for someone can make a big difference.

It occurred to Pooh and Piglet that they hadn't heard from Eeyore for several days, so they put on their hats and coats and trotted across the Hundred Acre Wood to Eeyore's stick house. Inside the house was Eeyore.

"Hello Eeyore," said Pooh.

"Hello Pooh. Hello Piglet," said Eeyore, in a Glum Sounding Voice.

"We just thought we'd check in on you," said Piglet, "because we hadn't heard from you, and so we wanted to know if you were okay."

Eeyore was silent for a moment. "Am I okay?" he asked, eventually. "Well, I don't know, to be honest. Are any of us really okay? That's what I ask myself. All I can tell you, Pooh and Piglet, is that right now I feel really rather Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. Which is why I haven't bothered you. Because you wouldn't want to waste your time hanging out with someone who is Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All, would you now."

Pooh looked at Piglet, and Piglet looked at Pooh, and they both sat down, one on either side of Eeyore in his stick house.

Eeyore looked at them in surprise. "What are you doing?"

"We're sitting here with you," said Pooh, "because we are your friends. And true friends don't care if someone is feeling Sad, or Alone, or Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. True friends are there for you anyway. And so here we are."

"Oh," said Eeyore. "Oh." And the three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny little bit better.

Because Pooh and Piglet were There.

No more; no less.

Studies have shown that walking regularly can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. [10] Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) is a prevalent condition with low remission rates. Lifestyle changes and exercise are some of the best practices to manage the condition.

A relaxing 30-minute walk every day is a great way to improve your overall health and stay fit. Physical fitness is not exclusively achieved by strenuous activities such as weight-lifting and back-splitting routines. You don’t even have to jog; walking for at least 15 minutes a day can progressive...
