Everything was falling apart! 3 days until I launch my personal brand and my website crashes…2 minutes later, a tree randomly falls and knocks out the power lines and the internet. Now this is the moment when I would usually panic. But something has changed. A lot of things actually. This time, I cried for a minute and before I started thinking of all the ways I could force things into place, I paused and chose something different. This time, I reminded myself that the best way to speed things up, is to slow down. I remembered that I can’t build a business about decolonizing capitalism and still play by the same name of rules.
So, I did what I had to do. I called my bestie to big me up, I went for a ride, grabbed some lunch and a margarita, came home, took a nap and around 7pm the power and internet returned.
I didn’t stay up all night to make up for lost time. I stay soft, listened to my body, worked for a couple of hours and put my ass to bed. You’ll never guess what happened next…
I woke up feeling amazing and confident, I didn’t worry about getting everything done. I leaned back into trust (because time comes from within me). I went to class and was gifted a free coffee (because it gets to be easy.) Then, someone showed up and made me a balloon animal (because it gets to be fun.)
I relished in the joy of it all. I continued with my day in trust and went to my videography class. Guess what!! It was canceled. So, I have time… to do it all. I bounce my way back to my car and when I start it up, the song starts to play “Take it slow” by Ayla Nereo. The words were a conformation to it all.
Sometimes, all we have to do is try something different and low and behold, and e get different results.
