If I accidentally call 911 can I just hang up?

No. NEVER hang up after calling 911. If you accidentally misdial 911, you cannot possibly hang up fast enough to cancel the call. Many 911 hang up calls are crimes in progress. We consider every 911 hang up to be an emergency unless we are able to verify otherwise. We always call 911 hang up calls back. If we receive an answering machine, no answer, busy signal, or the person sounds suspicious, law enforcement is immediately dispatched. In those situations, when we are able to reconnect with the caller we determine whether everything is ok. If it was a true accidental call an incident will be entered into our CAD system and cancelled without being dispatched.

West Monroe Volunteer Fire Department will be having a cooling room due to the heat this week. The cooling room will be open Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 2pm - 8pm, water and A/C is provided

Central square fire and Brewerton ambulance are responding to route 11 for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

We want to warn the community that the roads are getting slick. If you have to go out be prepared, be safe and most of all give yourself extra time. Also watch for snow plows, they are doing everything they can to make sure you get to your destination safe!

In an emergency situation, be sure to pull off the road way the best you can, call 911 and make sure you have your lights and four ways on.

Bentley has been found safe and is in good health

Bentley has been found safe and is back home with his family. We would like to thank the community for all of their help.

We are investigating the circumstances behind this incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

‼️PLEASE SHARE: MISSING CHILD‼️

The Syracuse Police Department is asking for the public's help in the search for 11-year-old Bentley Rogers. He is described as being five feet, four inches tall, weighing around 200 pounds, with darker blonde hair and brown eyes.

Bentley was last seen Wednesday morning, January 3rd, in front of his home on Hall Avenue waiting for his school bus. He is a sixth grader at Lincoln Middle School, but did not make it to school that day, or get on the bus. When he was last seen, Bentley was wearing a black jacket, blue pants and red, white and black PUMA sneakers.

If you have any information on where Bentley may be, or if you spot him, please call 911.
