Orono Gets the 54-38 Victory Over John Bapst

The Orono Red Riots took down the John Bapst Crusaders 54-38 in a matchup that saw Orono pull away in the second half.

Orono led by just one point at the half, 19-18, but outscored John Bapst 35-20 in the second half to secure the win.

Brady Hews led the way for Orono, finishing with 19 points. Matt Allen provided a spark off the bench, chipping in with 11 points, while Will Francis added 9 points and Noah Schaff contributed 7 points.

Izak Robichaud paced John Bapst with a game-high 20 points.

Next up for Orono is a home matchup against Old Town on Monday, December 23rd, before the Christmas break.

Orono Red Riots Edge Bucksport 58-55

The Orono Red Riots boys' basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season with a hard-fought 58-55 win over the Bucksport Golden Bucks at Orono High School on Monday, December 16th.

Will Francis led the way for Orono with 20 points, while Bergen Soderberg added 11 points and Brady Hews chipped in with 10 points.

Bucksport's Collin McDougal had a game-high 29 points, with Jack Morrison scoring 9 points and Trent Goss adding 8 points.

The Red Riots will look to build on this momentum when they host the John Bapst Crusaders on Thursday, December 19th.

Ellsworth Eagles Soar in Stunning Second-Half Comeback Against Orono Red Riots

After an electrifying showdown on Saturday, December 14th, the Ellsworth Eagles stormed back to secure a victory against the Orono Red Riots. Despite facing a daunting 14-point deficit at halftime, Ellsworth displayed incredible resilience and teamwork to clinch the win, marking their third consecutive victory of the season.

The game saw a dazzling performance from Brayden King, who finished with 21 points, with 19 of those coming in a critical second-half surge. King's scoring spree was instrumental in overturning the halftime deficit and propelling Ellsworth to triumph. Jackson Barry also put up a remarkable double-double, amassing 13 points and 13 rebounds, with 9 points and 7 rebounds coming in the second half alone, proving his prowess on both ends of the court. Hollis Grindel and Dawson Curtis were key contributors as well, each finishing with 12 points, with Curtis adding 10 rebounds to his tally, underscoring the team's dominance in the paint.

On the other side, Orono's Brady Hews shone brightly, leading all scorers with 22 points. Will Francis showcased his versatility with a solid performance of 9 points, four rebounds, and two assists.
