On behalf of Publisher Rich Black, ONYX Magazine sends our sincerest condolences to the family of Senator Geraldine Thompson, who died today at 76. State Senator Thompson made history on Nov. 6, 2018, by being elected to represent Florida House District 44, becoming the first female Democrat and person of color to hold this position. Thompson was among the ONYX Magazine Women on the Move in 2019.

Her family said she died peacefully after complications from a knee replacement surgery.

MOSLEY is Chief Financial Officer at Orlando Health, managing financial operations at Health Central Hospital, a 216-bed acute care facility, and Horizon West Hospital, a 60-bed acute facility. Black Enterprise Magazine named her the 2015 Healthcare Professional of the Year and she received nomination for the 2020 Wellington Woman of Worth award.

With tenacity, she overcame cultural barriers and became a financial guru and business owner at Mason Accounting Services. She is the author of several books that guide readers to business success and financial freedom.

She ensures partnerships, government affairs, marketing, public relations and communications that help promote arts downtown. She is a member of several boards of directors that ensure a healthy community throughout Central Florida.

KRISTIAN JENKINS is the president of the Orange County (Florida) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., with over 215 members. Under her leadership, the chapter launched impactful initiatives, including a period poverty campaign, book drives emphasizing the cultural impact of minorities, voter engagement and education efforts, and provided student scholarships.

TANGELA DUPREE has more than 25 years of service to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, and is serving her second term as the president in Gamma Theta Omega Chapter in Tampa. With 400+ members, she has overseen scholarship fundraisers for her chapter. As a result, her chapter fully capitalized two endowments.

Dr. Jazmin Ghent-Jackson is an award-winning international jazz saxophonist and educator. Over her career, she has become a decorated leader for the new generation of jazz, R&B, and gospel. In 2019 she received the prestigious NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Jazz Album for her third studio album, “The Story of Jazz.”
