Carter had been receiving hospice care since February 2023 at his home in Plains, Georgia, where he lived with his wife of 77 years, Rosalynn Carter.

ONYX Magazine Publisher Rich Black received the Community Leadership Award on Saturday during the NAACP - Orange County, FL Branch Holiday Party and officer installation ceremony. The organization recognized Black for establishing a strategic partnership between the NAACP and Rosen Hotels & Resorts during his tenure as the inaugural diversity director for the hotel chain, and for myriad other acts of generosity. He is pictured with ONYX Foundation Director Cherlynn Williams, ONYX Magazine Women on the Move Chair Dee Parker, Office of State Attorney, Monique H. Worrell, and George Oliver.

Panelists ONYX Magazine Publisher Rich Black, Florida Blue Market President Tony Jenkins, District 6 Commissioner: Bakari F. Burns, Radio Personality Rod Z shared stories and Classic memories and took questions from the live audience. ONYX Magazine SUPPORTS EDUCATION. Orlando's Evans High School senior Beth Elia won a $50,000 scholarship to attend Bethune-Cookman University next fall. Beth was among 5,000+ students attending the HBCU Week Foundation College Fair at Walt Disney World Resort. Beth has a 4.3 grade point average, is an ELEVATE Orlando ambassador and is the first in her immediate family to attend college. Disney President Jeff Vahle congratulated her. She plans to become an FBI agent. We believe her future is bright!
