I started the show "Sunday Wind Down" in 2011, after taking a long hiatus from playing House Music, which I began spinning in 1987. My passion for House Music was sparked during a visit to the Paradise Garage, where I was captivated by a mix of cutting-edge dance tracks and timeless disco, funk, soul, and rock music. The Garage ignited my love for DJing. While in college, my roommates and I, along with some friends, founded a campus club called "Progressive Dance Force Productions." The driving force behind the group was Eddie Rivera, who introduced me to both The Loft and the Garage. At that time, House Music was thriving on college campuses, and the parties we hosted became a sensation, drawing students from across Suffolk County, Long Island. These events marked my first experiences DJing for large audiences.
After college, while serving in the Marine Corps Reserve and raising two sons, my focus shifted to building the JamKam Entertainment brand with my partners Jaime (DJ 1n2) and Joel (DJ Joel T). As our business grew, playing House Music took a back seat. We spent years performing at weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, clubs, holiday celebrations, and barbecues—essentially all types of events featuring a wide range of music genres. Eventually, each of us landed residency gigs. Although I enjoyed DJing, I felt a void because I wasn’t playing the music that truly resonated with my spirit. Shortly before getting married and moving to Orlando, FL, I stepped away from my residency at Moca Lounge in Harlem, NY, where DJ 1n2 and I had been spinning Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae, and classics every Friday and Saturday. It was a memorable chapter—I even met my wife there. However, I eventually grew restless and yearned to return to House Music, which continued to call to me.
I began playing House Music again at home, creating personal sets. With the internet revolutionizing music sharing, I uploaded a few mixes online. A Facebook friend named Shorty listened to one of my sets and believed I’d be a perfect fit for a site called Buttersoulcafe.com. She introduced me to Mark Lewis, the site’s owner, and that’s how "Sunday Wind Down" was born. My time at BSC allowed me to discover and learn from talented DJs like Jihad Muhammad, Beloved, Andy Riscoe, and Ray Seiler. Performing on BSC helped me grow and refine my skills as an internet DJ.
About two years into my stint at BSC, I auditioned for Cyberjamz, the premier internet radio platform for House Music at the time, which hosted legendary DJs such as Louie Vega, Donna Edwards, and NuBang. Cyberjamz was the place to be, and I launched a monthly show called "Soulful Temptations." In 2014, after BSC shut down, I transitioned "Sunday Wind Down" to Cyberjamz, initially airing it every other Sunday. Before long, the show evolved into a weekly program.
The pandemic brought significant changes to how DJs performed online, with many moving to Twitch.tv to reach larger audiences. Cyberjamz followed suit, and I began making guest appearances on other Twitch channels, including Shelter Records and Funkadelic Sessions in the UK. Playing on internet radio has also led to gigs in other cities across state lines.
It’s been an incredible journey, but now it’s time for a new chapter. As of December 29, 2024, I’ve played my last show on Cyberjamz Radio. In 2025, "Sunday Wind Down" will move to Twitch.tv/toddlove. The first show on this new platform will air on January 12, 2025. While DJ Todd-Love will remain at the helm, I’ll introduce new formats, including shows with guest DJs, explorations of different music genres, and an archive series featuring rebroadcasts of my old sets from BSC, Cyberjamz, and other productions.
I’m excited about this transition and hope you’ll join me on this journey. Thank you for your continued support!
