The first tutu was created in 1832 and worn by Maria Taglioni in La Sylphide, performed at the Paris Opera. This revolutionary design—lighter, shorter, and more ethereal—allowed dancers to showcase their delicate footwork like never before! Over time, tutus evolved into the stiff, plate-like skirts we see in grand classical ballets today.

✨ Fun Fact: The ballet Tutus premiered in 1819 in Naples, Italy—just over a decade before the tutu made its grand debut!
