Incline dumbbell rows are a fantastic exercise to strengthen the muscles of your back, including the trapezius, latissimus dorsi, and rhomboids. Here’s how to do it correctly:
1. Starting position: Lie face down on an incline bench with a dumbbell in each hand, allowing your arms to hang toward the floor.
2. Arm extension: Contract your back muscles and pull the dumbbells up, keeping your elbows close to your body and your shoulders down and back.
3. Contraction: Hold the position for a second, feeling the contraction in your upper back muscles.
4. Controlled descent: Lower the dumbbells slowly back to the starting position, maintaining control throughout and avoiding fully locking out your elbows.
We recommend doing 3 to 4 sets of 8 to 12 repetitions, using a weight that challenges your muscles but allows you to maintain proper form. As always, make sure to warm up before starting and consult with a professional if you have any previous injuries.
