Itβs time to take a trip down memory lane! β³
Back in the year 2018, a revolutionary idea sprouted in the minds of two young 18 year olds, Gabe & Niko.
They dreamed of creating a company that would not only make a positive impact in the cannabis industry but change the way brands promoted their products.
The journey of Biokemp was not without challenges. Over the course of the last few years we underwent many trials & tribulations. From losing half of our operating line to abrasive material, losing Gabe to an accidental drug overdose and many more challenges a small manufacturing company faces.
As we celebrate another year in business, we extend our gratitude to our incredible community of supporters, customers and partners.
Biokemp like many other small brands is ran by real humans who deal with real life events.
None of what we do here would be possible without the support of you guys.
We will be releasing more clips on the origins of Biokemp so stay tuned.

History of Filters Continuedβ¦
Did you know that smoking filters were first made with cork? Thatβs right, cork! Back in the early 20th century, smokers started to become more concerned about the health risks associated with smoking. So, they began to look for ways to reduce the amount of tar and other harmful substances in their cigarettes.
Enter the cork filter. It was invented by a man named Boris Aivaz in the 1920s. Aivaz was a Russian engineer who had a background in chemistry. He came up with the idea of using cork as a filter material after noticing that cork was a great insulator and had a lot of tiny air pockets that could trap particles.
At first, Aivazβs cork filters were quite basic - he simply wrapped a piece of cork around the end of a cigarette. But as the idea caught on, other companies started to refine the design. They began to use more sophisticated filtering materials, like cellulose and charcoal, and experimented with different shapes and sizes.
Today, smoking filters are a ubiquitous part of the smoking experience. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and materials - from paper to foam to activated charcoal. And while they may not eliminate all the health risks associated with smoking, they certainly go a long way in reducing them.
So there you have it, folks - a little bit of smoking history for you! Who knew that something as simple as cork could revolutionize the smoking world?

PS: This video does not imply that using a filter will make the smoking experience more safe. However, these were the initial thoughts in the 1920s.
Filter tips, also known as cigarette filters, became popular in the 1950s due to a significant increase in cancer cases associated with smoking. Prior to the 1950s, cigarettes did not have filters, and smokers were unaware of the harmful effects of smoking on their health.
However, with the rise of research studies linking smoking to lung cancer and other health issues, people became increasingly aware of the dangers of smoking. This led to a demand for safer smoking alternatives, which is where cigarette filters came into play.
Filter tips were designed to reduce the amount of tar and other harmful chemicals that smokers inhale while smoking. The filter traps these harmful particles, allowing the smoker to inhale less of them.
The introduction of filter tips was met with widespread adoption, as smokers were eager to reduce their risk of developing cancer and other health issues. Additionally, tobacco companies saw an opportunity to market their cigarettes as being safer and healthier, leading to a surge in filter-tipped cigarette sales.

Hey everyone!
Today, I wanted to take a moment to talk about the fascinating history behind some of the inventions that we often take for granted. In particular, I've been thinking a lot about the history of filter tips, and the Hungarian inventor Boris Amuse who played a pivotal role in their creation.
For those who may not know, filter tips are the small, cylindrical pieces at the end of a cigarette that help to reduce the amount of tar and other harmful chemicals that a smoker inhales. Before their invention, smoking was an even more hazardous activity than it is today.
Boris Amuse, a Hungarian inventor, was the first person to patent the idea of filter tips back in 1925. At the time, cigarette smoking was gaining popularity, but there was growing concern about its health impacts. Amuse's invention was a game-changer, as it allowed smokers to enjoy their habit while also reducing some of the harm caused by inhaling cigarette smoke.
Amuse's original filter tip design consisted of a cotton wad wrapped in thin paper, but over the years, the technology behind filter tips has evolved significantly. Today, filter tips can be made from a variety of materials, including cellulose acetate, activated charcoal, and even biodegradable plant fibers.
It's incredible to think about the impact that Boris Amuse's invention has had on the world. Today, filter tips are used by millions of people worldwide and have undoubtedly saved countless lives. It just goes to show that even the smallest inventions can have a huge impact on our daily lives.
So there you have it, a little bit of history about the invention of filter tips and the amazing inventor behind it all. Let me know in the comments if you have any other fascinating tidbits about the history of everyday inventions!

The origins of smoking
In many cultures, smoking was used as a way to connect with the spirit world or the divine. For example, in the Americas, the use of tobacco in smoking was an integral part of many Native American religious ceremonies. Tobacco was believed to be a sacred plant that had the power to connect people with the spirit world, and the act of smoking was seen as a form of prayer and meditation.
In Asia, smoking was also an essential part of ancient religious practices. The use of incense and smoking materials was prevalent in Buddhist and Hindu ceremonies, with the smoke symbolizing purification and the release of negative energy.
But smoking was not just limited to spiritual practices. In many cultures, smoking was also used for medicinal purposes. In ancient China, for example, smoking was believed to have healing properties and was used to treat a range of ailments, from headaches to stomach problems. In fact, it was not until much later that smoking began to be seen as harmful to health.
As smoking spread around the world, different cultures developed their own unique smoking practices. In the Middle East, for example, the hookah became a popular way to smoke tobacco. The water pipe was invented in India in the 16th century and quickly spread throughout the Middle East and North Africa. In Japan, smoking became a highly ritualized activity, with smoking ceremonies and elaborate smoking utensils.
Today, smoking has become a ubiquitous habit that is enjoyed by millions of people around the world. While attitudes towards smoking have changed, and smoking is now known to have serious health risks, the cultural significance of smoking cannot be denied. From ancient rituals to modern-day habits, smoking has played an essential role in shaping human culture and society.
So, whether you're smoking a joint on the streets of New York or puffing on a hookah in Cairo, take a moment to appreciate the rich history and cultural significance of smoking. Fro
