The introduction of ads ruins the user experience. Wish their was a non subscription way to avoid ads- 5-10 cents per skip.

Paying subscribers are a far more sustainable source of revenue than free users who look at ads (which, in any case, they are increasingly trying to block).

Micro payments [...] are a hugely fragmented volume business that used to cost more to process than it generated. Aggregate cheaply and process automatically, and you have accessed an untapped revenue stream.

It's not that consumers want it for free, they just want to be protected from viruses. Let them pay you more directly JUST for what they consume. It's a win-win.
