Jake Smollett is a celebrity chef, TV host, and best-selling cookbook author. Born into a family of entertainers, he began his career modeling in New York City when he was just three months old. His parents and 5 siblings made the cross-country move to Los Angeles, where he landed acting roles in ABC’s “The Middleman”, “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper”, and then “On Our Own” along with his siblings. He also landed a role in the feature film “Eve’s Bayou” with his sister Jurnee.

Jake is a super talented designer and builder. His keen eye for making one of kind pieces has led him to be one of the most sought after furniture designers. Jake has done numerous demos on “The Chew”, “The Today Show”, “Good Morning America”, and “Rachael Ray.” Jake co-stars alongside his sister Jazz Smollett in CLEO TV’s popular hit series Living By Design. He is the host of New Soul Kitchen and New Soul Kitchen Remix on CLEO TV and is also known from numerous Food Network shows. Wells is also a contributor on The Best Things I Ever Ate on Cooking Channel and Food Fantasies on Oprah Winfrey Network. He has worked with Tyler Perry, TV One founder Cathy Hughes, NBA Allstar Brandon Ingram, Tom Joyner, Bobby Brown, and Bel Biv DeVoe. Bren Herrera is an award-winning celebrity chef, TV host, entrepreneur, author and philanthropist. Born in Havana, Cuba, and raised in Washington, D.C. she fell in love with cooking at a young age as her mom introduced her to the art of pressure cooking. After leaving a lofty career in law, Herrera turned to cooking as her way to celebrate her Afro-Cuban roots but also to entertain and educate through dynamic experiences and impactful cultural narratives.

Herrera has appeared as a regular guest on the Today Show, the Hallmark Channel and others and published her first cookbook, ‘Modern Pressure Cooking’. Bren’s determination and strong sense of belonging finally garnered her own network TV show. ‘Culture Kitchen with Bren Herrera”. This made Bren the first Afro-Latina (and immigrant) to host her own TV show on CLEO TV.

JJ Johnson is a James Beard Award-winning chef, TV Personality, and Author best known for his barrier-breaking cuisine informed by the Caribbean flavors of his upbringing. He has been featured on multiple television shows, and has his television show called ‘Just Eats with Chef JJ’ on CLEO TV. And is Produced By Powerhouse Productions! Chef JJ’s cookbook, “The Simple Art of Rice: Recipes from Around the World for the Heart of Your Table,” was listed as one of New York Times Best Cookbooks in 2023.

He is the chef and founder of FIELDTRIP, a made-to-order rice bowl shop that debuted in 2019 with three locations in NYC and one in the Bahamas, Atlantis Paradise Island. Chef JJ highlights rice as a hero ingredient and showcases it in recipes sourced from around the world. As one of the only fast-casual restaurants on Esquire’s “America’s Best New Restaurants” list in 2020, FIELDTRIP utilizes sustainable ingredients and ethically sourced vegetables and proteins, creating a flavorful and diverse dining experience.

Today we celebarte Patrick Clark. He was one of the most talented chefs to ever grace us all. A true legend that left us way too early. Patrick Clark was truly one of the best chefs to have ever done it! He was the first black chef to ever win a James beard Award. He won the award for Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic. Patrick Clark was the first black chef to win a James Beard best chef award, which he took home for the mid-Atlantic region in 1994. Following this massive accomplishment, Clark was offered executive chef positions at some of the most prestigious kitchens in the U.S, which led to him to catering meals at the White House.

Clark is credited with having been the first chef in New York City to mix fine-dining and bistro at The Odeon in Tribeca, as well as also having been one of the first American chefs to apply French technique to growing American regional cuisine in the late 70s and early 80s. Our exective Producers here at Powerhouse had the chance to work with Patrick on many projects, and Rochelle was even one of the people chosen to speak at his funeral. He was one of her mentors, and she will be forever grateful for his gudiance into the food world. Patrick Clark was a Powerhouse in the Kitchen, and at home. He gave 100 percent to everything he did, and loved giving back!!

Pinky Cole runs the wildly successful, Slutty Vegan restaurant chain. Slutty Vegan now has 13 locations that span the South — Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., Dallas — and New York City. You can pick up a plant-based bratwurst, the Big Dawg, and pair it with some Slutty Fries at Atlanta Braves games and soon the Atlanta airport. She has also created the Pinky Cole Foundation, which seeks to empower generations of color to win in life, financially, and in the pursuit of their entrepreneurial goals. She is also the author of Eat Plants, B*tch and she has not looked back!!

A James Beard award-winning chef and an inspiration for a Disney princess, the late Leah Chase spent seven decades stirring, chopping, spooning, basting and, in general, creating countless delicious meals in her establishment, the famed Dooky Chase’s Restaurant in the Treme-neighborhood. She was a joy to be around and really loved to share history and love for people and food! Here at Powerhouse we truly believe that there would be no us without her!
