n-line retailer of fabric, thread, patterns and notions, Robin creates Thank-You postcards and one-of-a-kind bookmarks for customers of the business, which soon expanded into Fabric Melodies - digital prints created from quilt fabrics and batiks. The challenge has always been to create the most realistic image, one that dares the viewer to reach out to feel each tiny detail. Using a photograph as the inspiration, Robin first selects each fabric, paying special attention to pattern, texture, color, light and movement. Batiks easily become a canvas as hand-painted details just seem to dance off the paper. Most creations take a hundred hours or more to complete, layer by layer of fabric and painted details. What you see is the direct result of a visionary artist and talented designer who just loves to create beautiful images using an unexpected medium.
