Should Running A Business Really Be This Hard? (Spoiler: YES)

The last six months have been hard. I don't say that as a complaint; I state that as an accomplishment to be proud of, however...

Should running a business Really be this hard?

Yes. Yes, it should be. In fact, it must be.

Everyone loves doing the easy s**t because anyone can do the easy s**t. Everyone is willing to do the easy work, take the easy win, or make the easy decision. Maybe this is why everyone isn't successful.

I like it hard and you should too...wait...

Right now, think of any successful thing you've ever accomplished, and I can bet that it is defined by all the hard stuff you had to do to make it happen.

Don’t run from the hard things; lean into them, master them, and you’ll find there will always be demand for what you do—no matter what that is.

We think there is certainty in the easy stuff, offering a false sense of security compared to the discomfort of uncertainty. The truth is that certainty is a myth. Nothing in life is certain, but everything we consider great exists in uncertainty.

Dealing with hard things better than others is your secret to success in business. What are you willing or unwilling to do?

Yes, doing the hard s**t sucks, but you must embrace the suck and AFDI (Actually Fu***ng Do It).

51% of businesses fail in their first 3-5 years because of whether people are willing or unwilling to do the hard things.

It's hard to fire an employee or part ways with a friend, but how will you accomplish your vision with those who won't buy into it?

It’s hard to admit when you're wrong and accept tough criticism, but how can you grow if you aren't willing to learn?

It’s hard to let go, but how else can you grasp what comes next?

It's hard to close doors or have doors closed on you, but how else would you know it's time to look for new doors opening?

It’s hard to do the boring s**t in business, but it's this boring s**t that will keep you in business.

It’s hard to be truly honest with yourself, be vulnerable, and admit your flaws in front of your team (or clients), but this is why they'll respect you as a leader.
