Giant Buddha of Leshan; carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at confluence of Min River and Dadu River in southern part of Sichuan province near Leshan, China.
It"s a 71m tall stone statue, built between 713-803 AD, during Tang Dynasty. A drainage system was incorporated into Leshan Giant Buddha, when it was built, which is still in working order. It includes drainage pipes carved into various places on body, to carry away water after rains so as to reduce weathering.
