Storm Alert staffers Nicole and Shrimayi took home some hardware after the NSAA State Journalism Competition on April 23.

Nicole placed 8th in Newspaper Layout for her Enjoy the Little Things Spread from our Fall Issue of the magazine.

Shrimayi competed at a live writing session, Tuesday at North East Community College in Norfolk, and took home a 4th medal!

Vibrates to this week’s Athlete of the Week, our very own Editor-in-Chief, Nicole Schulz! Schulz is on the Elkhorn Varsity Swim team. “My favorite memory in swimming is karaoke before our Fete meet. It’s nice when we have a week of taper before an important meet, and we also get to have fun,” Schulz says. She will be double majoring in Psychology and Political Science next year. “Some words of advice are to always live in the moment and do the little things. You can only change your own practice, so it is important to focus on yourself and not others.” Great work Nicole and roll storm! ⛈️

Congratulations to this week’s Athlete of the Week, Jessica Tackett! Tackett is on Elkhorn South’s Girls Varsity Golf team. “My favorite memory of my sport is right after I won districts and I immediately went to my parents to hug them. I will never forget that” Tackett says. She will further her education at UNL where she will be studying civil engineering. “My words of advice would be to appreciate what you have in the moment. Four years can go by faster than you think.” Good work Jessica and roll storm! ⛈️

Congratulations to Leo White for being this week’s Athlete of the Week! White is on Elkhorn South’s Boys Varsity Cross Country team. “[My] favorite memory was bonding with my teammates after conditioning all season at districts and being proud of the work we had done” White says. He will be continuing his education at UNL. When asked for words of advice, White says “Not everything’s so serious. Enjoy the process and time with a sport. Time flies by quick.” Great work Leo and roll storm! ⛈️

Congratulations to Katelyn Franzen for being this week’s Athlete of the Week! Franzen is on Elkhorn South’s Girls Varsity Basketball team. “I enjoy how basketball has so many different aspects to it, so no two games or practices are ever the same,” Franzen says. She will be attending UNL to pursue a pre-health track. Her words of advice are to “Force yourself to work outside of your comfort zone, and have fun!” Great work Katelyn and roll storm! ⛈️
