It is predicted that the area will be affected by a powerful winter storm tonight into Tuesday. It is predicted that tonight will bring with it the first batch of snowfall in northeast Nebraska. On Monday morning, a second bout of snow is expected to arrive from the southwest. It is probable to experience heavy snowfall at rates higher than one inch per hour, particularly on Monday afternoon. Monday night and Tuesday morning will see the conclusion of the snowfall, with the possibility of wind gusts as high as 40 mph. Tuesday morning there is a chance of blowing and drifting snow, particularly to the west of US-77.

Christmas Day temperatures are trending lower, increasing the likelihood of snow accumulation. This day is expected to have 20–60% moderate travel disruptions. A few inches of snow are predicted, with the northeastern region expected to receive the most.

There is still a good chance that a powerful storm system may hit the region on Sunday or Monday. On Christmas Eve, this will bring rain to eastern Nebraska. Early on Monday morning, the rain may turn into a wintry mix in northeast Nebraska. If you are going out of the area on Sunday, be ready for the impact of winter travel.

Multiple tornado warnings ⚠️

10am Radar Update: Snow is overspreading the region with areas such as Omaha now barely just seeing flakes fall. The darker blues indicates heavier bands on snow. The green is where there is rain/wintry mix in southeast Nebraska before they transfer to all snow after noon today.

Here's look at the different precipitation as of right now. Rain in western Iowa with a wintry mix along I-80 and snow in northeast Nebraska.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning just northwest of the Omaha metro with wind gusts up to 70mph. This is a fast moving bow echo. If in the direct path take shelter immediately. This line of storms is also producing a lot of lightning. Omaha and Lincoln should start preparing now for damaging winds. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9am.
