If you ever begin to think that the everything is on the internet, think again. The Washington State Library's collection of newspapers throughout the state's history includes over 50,000 pieces of microfilm and 132 newspaper subscriptions. The library maintains the subscriptions in print until they're captured for posterity on microfilm.
And they work with communities throughout the state to capture the historic collections of newspapers which, over the past century, have recorded our communities' trials and triumphs.
Take a Tour of the Washington State Library on this free tour for journalists and publishers with Shawn Schollmeyer, the Washington Digital Newspapers Coordinator.
The library’s resources provide rich insight into the history of journalism, but also provide context for any number of stories being researched by journalists. The library is also a repository for state and federal publications, providing a rich resource, including the provenance of legislation.
